LIU Women’s Volleyball Announces 2025 Schedule

Season tickets on sale now, Sharks to host 11 matches in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Long Island University women's volleyball team announced its schedule for the 2025 season on Tuesday, as the program enters its first season led by reigning NEC Coach of the Year Tony Trifonov. The home slate includes 11 matches inside the Steinberg Wellness Center. Season tickets to all home matchups are available for purchase here. 

The Sharks begin their 2025 campaign on Friday, Aug. 29, traveling to the Grand Canyon Invitational in Phoenix, Arizona to face off against Grand Canyon University. LIU will also take on Gonzaga University on Saturday, Aug. 30, and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on Sunday, Aug. 31, at the Grand Canyon Invitational. 

LIU then returns east for the Sacred Heart Invitational in Fairfield, Connecticut beginning on Sept. 5, where the Sharks will first take on the host team Sacred Heart University. Also on the schedule at the invitational are matches against Dartmouth College on Sept. 6 and Rutgers University on Sept. 7. 

Following a 12-day break in the schedule, the Sharks will travel to New Rochelle, New York for the Iona/FDU Invitational, taking on Columbia University on Sept. 19 and the host Gaels on Sept. 20. 

The Sharks will host their first match at the Steinberg Wellness Center on Sept. 23, facing off against St. Peter's University. 

NEC play begins soon after, where the Sharks will host back-to-back matchups against Chicago State University on Sept. 26 and 27 in Brooklyn. Following a non-conference home match against the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Sept. 30, LIU travels to Le Moyne College for a pair of matches on Oct. 3 and 4, then completes a three-game road stretch with a match at the University of New Haven on Oct. 8. 

The Sharks then return home for two matches against Mercyhurst University on Oct. 10 and 11 before traveling to Central Connecticut State University on Oct. 17 and 18.  

After a standalone home match on Oct. 29 against New Haven, LIU hits the road for the final time in the regular season for back-to-back contests against Saint Francis University on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.  

LIU closes NEC play with four home matches, first taking on Fairleigh Dickinson University on Nov. 7 and 8 before playing Stonehill College on Nov. 14 and 15. 

The NEC Volleyball Tournament begins on Nov. 21, hosted by the regular season champion.
