WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. — LIU has advanced to the NEC Championship with an 11-1 win over Wagner on Saturday night.
Jacob Pipercic led the way for the Sharks in the win, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, five RBI, and two runs scored. Leading off and slotted in the designated hitter spot for LIU, it was Pipercic who helped his team take its initial lead with an RBI single in the second inning. He then sparked a six-run fourth inning with a two-run double, and later hit his homer in the fifth.
Nicholas Finarelli kept Wagner in check on the mound, going the distance in the seven-inning game, allowing just two hits, one run, and striking out four.
As the Sharks added to their steady lead throughout,
Ryan Rivera and
Max Samson had matching 3-for-4 performances, each with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored.
Chandler Ketchup also went 3-for-4 and
Noah Sorensen drove in two during the decisive victory.
LIU will now take on CCSU in the title game on Sunday, May 25 at 11 a.m.
