LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Senior third baseman Alyssa Polemeni of the Long Island University softball team was named to the Third-Team Northeast DI All-Region list by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Thursday.
Polemeni, a Staten Island, N.Y. native, led LIU with 12 home runs hit and tied for second on the Sharks with 39 hits this spring, all while racking up 43 RBI, 34 runs scored, 11 doubles, one triple and eight stolen bases. The senior third baseman posted a batting average of .333 with an on-base percentage of .444 and an OPS of 1.196, the latter of which was a team-high.
A First-Team All-Northeast Conference selection, Polemeni helped guide the Sharks to the NEC Softball Championship title game last weekend. Her solo home run against Fairleigh Dickinson University on Saturday opened scoring for the Sharks, who went on to defeat both the Knights and Central Connecticut State University to reach the championship game against Saint Francis University.
Polemeni is LIU's first NFCA All-Region selection since Lindsey Cowans in the 2023 season.
