EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The LIU women's hockey team wrapped up its stellar 2024-25 season in the NEWHA finals against Sacred Heart on Saturday night.
Maggie Culp scored the game's first goal 5:52 into the second period to give LIU a 1-0 lead.
Ryane Kearns and
Sarah Rourke assisted on Culp's first postseason goal of the season.
Sacred Heart responded with three unanswered second-period goals to take a 3-1 lead.
Grace Babington pulled LIU within one, making it a 3-2 game, after finding the back of the net 13:58 into the third period.
Sacred Heart would add a fourth goal to pull away with a 4-2 win.

Kelly Nash. "Of course we hoped for a better ending, but the best feeling as a coach is knowing your team gave it everything, and we did that on Saturday night. The eight seniors graduating left such a mark on this program and has set the standard for years to come."
The Sharks finished their season 22-11-4, posting the best winning percentage in the conference with a 19-6-3 record and concluding the regular season with a league-best 57 points.
