Bethlehem, Pa. — Despite securing an early lead, the Sharks fell to Lehigh 8-2 on Friday as the two teams opened up a three-game series.
After hitting two home runs to lift LIU to a 12-8 victory against Hofstra this past Tuesday,
Jack Power kept things rolling and hit his third of the season to lead off the second inning against Lehigh. The solo shot gave an LIU a 1-0 lead.
From there, the Sharks found themselves trailing 8-1 heading into the ninth inning.
Joseph Durso would, however, go on to hit his second home run of the season in the top of the ninth.
Mason Breton (two) and
Christian Yoo (one) combined to throw three scoreless innings of relief for LIU, collectively allowing just one hit and one walk.
The Sharks will look to bounce back during its doubleheader on Saturday, March 1, playing Lehigh at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
