COLCHESTER, VT. — Maggie Culp was the overtime hero for the second straight night as the LIU women's hockey team swept its two-game series against Saint Michael's on Saturday night.
Culp, who scored the game-winner in overtime on Friday night, lifted LIU to another dramatic 2-1 win after scoring just 49 seconds into the extra frame, as the Sharks secured their 14th win of the season in thrilling fashion.
Grace Babington scored LIU's first goal of the game at 4:57 of the second period. Crosby Wildfong and Anna Fairman assisted on Babington's seventh goal of the season, which marked her team-leading 19th point.
Goaltender Abbie Thompson delivered another stellar performance. The graduate student stopped 19 shots and earned her 14th win of the season.
LIU will next play Franklin Pierce on Friday, Feb. 7, at 3 p.m. at the Northwell Health Ice Center.
