BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Greg Gordon, a senior guard with the LIU Men's Basketball team (6-4, 0-0 NEC), was named the NEC Player of the Week on Monday after helping lead the Sharks to a win over La Salle University on Sunday.  

In addition, redshirt senior guard Malachi Davis was named an NEC Prime Performer on Monday. 

Gordon led all scorers with 25 points against the Explorers on Saturday, a game the Sharks won 70-60 inside the Steinberg Wellness Center in Brooklyn. The Chicago native also finished the game with a 64.7 field goal percentage (11-17 FG), including going 3-4 from beyond the three-point line, three rebounds, two assists, and a season-high four steals. 

His 25 points were the second-most in a game for Gordon this season, having previously scored 29 against IU Indy on Nov. 6. Gordon also received NEC Player of the Week honors after that outing. 

Davis finished Saturday's game with 19 points, the second-most by any player on the floor that night, three rebounds, seven assists, and one steal. The Scarborough, Canada native has now scored in double figures in nine of 10 games for the Sharks this season. 

LIU hits the road for a matchup against the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Tuesday night, with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m. EST. The game will be televised digitally on SEC Network+, with radio coverage available on the LIU Sharks Audio Network.
