LIU Women's Soccer Celebrates Special Players as Part of Senior Day

7 players were honored for their accomplishments

BROOKVILLE, N.Y.  — LIU women's soccer hosted Senior Day on Thursday, honoring a number of special players before tying FDU 0-0 in their match.
 
The following Sharks were honored as part of the special day:
 
Betty Hall: An NEC Prime Performer earlier this season, Hall was recognized for excelling in both education and sport, demonstrating exceptional resilience throughout her American soccer journey. She also made NEC Academic Honor Roll in the Fall of 2023.
 
Izzy Stein: A two-year team captain and film major, Stein has excelled academically as a regular on the NEC Commissioner's and Academic Honor Rolls, all while making 56 appearances, scoring 5 goals, and recording 7 assists in her collegiate career.
 
Sophia Paffrath: A Psychology major and exceptional student, Paffrath has balanced academic excellence with athletic success, appearing in 46 matches across her collegiate career while contributing goals, assists, and leadership in every season.
 
Ela Kisin: A three-time NEC Academic Honor Roll member, Kisin was celebrated for her drive and commitment. Despite setbacks and injuries, she's always been there for her teammates, supporting, encouraging, and reminding everyone what true resilience looks like.
 
Keely Thomas: Since coming to LIU, Thomas has risen up as a two-time NEC Rookie of the Week, five-time NEC Prime Performer, and three-time NEC Defensive Player of the Week. Off the pitch, Thomas was recognized for maintaining a strong faith in God and an empathetic heart.
 
Grace Hennig: Hennig is a five-year Division I soccer player, who transferred to LIU from Marist. Throughout her time with LIU, Hennig has emerged as a multi-time NEC Player of the Week award recipient and was the leading goal scorer for the team in 2024, finishing her season with six goals and one assist.
 
Thalia Valdez: A Marketing major, Valdez accomplished the feat of completing her degree in just three years. She's appeared in 31 matches and earned recognition on the NEC Academic Honor Roll for her outstanding performance in the classroom.
 
 
LIU returns to the field on Sunday, Nov. 2, visiting Wagner at 1 p.m.
