EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Abbie Thompson and Anna Fairman have been named the NEWHA Goaltender and Defenseman of the Week after leading the LIU women's hockey team to a two-game sweep over Assumption on Jan. 17-18.

Thompson guided LIU to a pair of wins (3-1, 2-1) against the Greyhounds, posting a .966 save percentage with a total of 57 saves during another stellar weekend for the Sharks.

The graduate student earned her 10th and 11th wins of the season and her second NEWHA Goaltender of the Week honor this season.

Fairman received her first NEWHA Defenseman of the Week accolade this season after recording four assists over the weekend. Fairman also registered a plus-two rating during the series against the Greyhounds.

LIU returns to action on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against Sacred Heart at the Northwell Health Ice Center.
