BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — In celebration of its 125th anniversary, Nassau County will host "Nassau Day" at Long Island University, showcasing the LIU Sharks football team—the only Division I football program in the county.
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman will lead the festivities, honoring the county's rich heritage during the Sharks' home opener against Lehigh on Saturday, September 14, at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
To mark this significant milestone, Nassau County will distribute complimentary tickets to youth football leagues and organizations across the region. This initiative is designed to inspire young athletes and provide them with the opportunity to experience the thrill of Division I football firsthand.
"Nassau Day is not only a celebration of our community's storied history but also an invitation for families, friends, and football enthusiasts to come together and support the Sharks as they embark on their season," County Executive Blakeman said. "We welcome all residents to join us at LIU's Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville on September 14 at 12 p.m., as the LIU Sharks take on the Lehigh Mountain Hawks."
LIU kicks off against Lehigh at 12 p.m.
