BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The LIU baseball team swept its three-game series against Norfolk State after a 6-3 win on Sunday afternoon.
JC Navarro put the Sharks ahead early with a single to left field, scoring
Benjamin Fierenzi.
LIU eventually opened up a 3-0 lead.
Noah Sorenson's single to right scored
Jack Power as the Sharks extended their lead to 4-0.
Seth Surrett padded the lead for LIU in the eighth with an RBI single to right.
Surrett finished the game with three hits.
Both
Jake Mastillo and Jake Ryan each collected a pair of hits.
Jared Hughes was strong for the Sharks on the hill. The right-hander tossed six innings and tallied nine strikeouts.
Jack VanDoran pitched three innings of relief and fanned four batters.
LIU next plays at Hofstra Wednesday at 3 p.m.
