FAIRFIELD, Conn. — No letdown!
In its first game since clinching a second straight NEWHA regular-season title, the LIU women's hockey team defeated host Sacred Heart, 3-1, on Tuesday night.
The game was a makeup of a game snowed out a month earlier.
With goaltender
Tindra Holm resting in the first game since the Sharks clinched, freshman
Clara Kammholz took care of business between the pipes. Kammholz recorded 17 saves in her first action since Dec. 8.
LIU jumped to a 2-0 lead on Tuesday courtesy of goals from
Grace Babington and
Sarah Rourke. After the Pioneers trimmed their deficit to one goal,
Lisa Schröfl answered with a second-period goal to restore a two-goal cushion.
Schröfl's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
Jeannie Wallner played in her 100th collegiate game.
LIU returns to action this weekend with games against Post on Friday on Long Island and Saturday in Connecticut.
