BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The LIU women's basketball team took on CCSU in its penultimate game of the season.
Before the game,
Samantha Bailey and
Ashley Austin were honored for senior night. Austin was given her 1,000 point ball by former LIU guard Brandy Thomas, who is the 20th LIU player to score 1,000 career points.
The Sharks came out firing, scoring 23 points and shooting 10-16 from the floor. Unfortunately for the Sharks, the pace of baskets scored would slow down and CCSU took a one point lead into the half. LIU would continue to struggle to score in the third quarter as the Blue Devils started to pull away. The Sharks would get back on track in the fourth but unfortunately it was not enough as they fell 65-56.
Austin led the Sharks in all three major categories, recording 19 points with eight rebounds and four assists. She also tallied a steal and two blocks.
Mariah Elohim scored 17 points with four rebounds.
Bailey scored nine points with six rebounds and three assists.
The Sharks return to the court when they wrap up the regular season at Stonehill on Saturday.
