EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Hours before the puck drops on its NEWHA playoff opener, the LIU women's hockey team cleaned up on the conference's postseason awards.

Kelly Nash was voted NEWHA Coach of the Year, while Bri Eid was selected NEWHA Defender of the Year and Tindra Holm was named NEWHA Goaltender of the Year.

Jeannie Wallner, Eid and Holm earned first-team All-NEWHA honors, and Mikayla Lantto was voted to the second team.

Additionally, Grace Babington earned a spot on the NEWHA All-Rookie team and Sarah Rourke was voted to the NEWHA All-Sportsmanship team.

The top-seeded Sharks open a best-of-three quarterfinal series against eighth-seeded Saint Michael's on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Northwell Health Ice Center.

The teams also will play Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 7:15 p.m. if necessary.

LIU has home-ice advantage throughout the postseason.

The Sharks already have produced a program-record 26 wins as they look to repeat as NEWHA postseason champion and return to the NCAA Tournament.
