BROOKLYN, N.Y. — After a strong week for the Sharks and rising up with their best performances of the season thus far,
Malachi Davis and
Shadrak Lasu have been named NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Men's Basketball Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Davis is fresh off a career-high 31 points, leading LIU to a 79-76 victory over Charlotte on Saturday, Nov. 23. He shot 9 of 18 from the field (including 4 of 8 from downtown) and 9 of 9 from the free-throw line. He scored 19 of those points in the first half, and made four key free throws in the game's final sixteen seconds to help the Sharks put the finishing touches on the win. Such a clutch performance followed a 22-point outing earlier in the week against Columbia on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Davis averaged 26.5 points in the week, shooting 47% from long range and a perfect 13 for 13 from the charity stripe.
Lasu also made a big impact in LIU's win over Charlotte, scoring a season-high 11 points (on 4 of 6 from the field) to go with a team-leading 10 rebounds, marking his first double-double of the season.
Davis and Lasu will lead the Sharks into battle in the team's next game against Winthrop on Monday, Nov. 25 at 6:30 p.m.
