BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The Sharks picked up another win in NEC play Sunday afternoon, defeating Chicago State by a score of 4-1.
Senior
Grace Hennig played a key role in the victory, scoring two goals and dishing out one assist.
"Grace has been incredible not just today, but the last few weeks. She's scoring and setting up goals," head coach Thomas Giovatto said after the game. "She's also been incredible defensively, winning balls late in games when the other team has set pieces and corner kicks – she's been huge winning balls in the air and helping us clean up the back."
Aliya Couillard and
Sophia Paffrath also scored one goal each for LIU, as the Sharks continued to pick up momentum playing conference opponents.
"The girls have been working hard. We're teaching them something completely different, so we knew it was going to take some time," the head coach added. "We appreciate how hard they're working. They're really starting to understand what we want from them. They've never been in this situation and it's a great feeling. Hopefully we continue this through the conference."
The Sharks will next face Stonehill Thursday, Oct 10 at 3:30 p.m. on the road. Fans can catch the action on NEC Front Row.
