Box Score EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — The LIU women's hockey team erupted with three third-period goals to knock off Assumption 3-2 in the Sharks' home opener at the Northwell Health Ice Center on Friday afternoon.
Paige Vreeman scored just 12 seconds into the final frame to cut LIU's deficit to one goal.
Maggie Culp then tallied a power-play goal just under the midway point of the period, pulling the Sharks even.
Bri Eid would then find the back of the net with under three minutes to play, lifting LIU to a 3-2 win in the Sharks' home opener.
Abbie Thompson made 29 saves, earning her second win of the season.
Both teams will take the ice Saturday at 2 p.m.
