SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The LIU men's basketball team traveled to up to Le Moyne on Saturday as it looked to move up in the NEC standings.
The Sharks and Dolphins traded blows early with no team being able to completely take control of the game. LIU led by one with a little over a minute in the first half remaining but a 5-0 Le Moyne run would give it a four-point lead going into halftime.
That run seemed like enough to energize the home team as it would never lose lead the lead again.
Tai Strickland would try to keep the Sharks in the game but every time he made a shot, Kaiyem Cleary for Le Moyne would have an answer as the Sharks fell 87-74.
Strickland scored a season-high 34 points, shooting 60.9% from the floor while also adding seven rebounds and three assists.
Eric Acker scored 16 with three rebounds and four assists while
Tana Kopa scored 13 with three rebounds.
R.J. Greene had another nice day on the boards, tallying a team-high eight rebounds.
The Sharks return to the court Thursday when they travel to FDU at 7 p.m. The game will be aired on YES Network.
