SYOSSET, N.Y. — The LIU men's tennis team earned a hard-fought opening point when Leon Harder and Victor Sjöström won the deciding match at third doubles on Saturday night.

And the Sharks went on to prevail against Colgate, 5-2, at Sportime Syosset.

Philip Hilble won, 6-0, 6-1, over Josh Israel at first singles and Harder defeated Lee Aidan, 6-1, 6-1, at third singles to put LIU ahead 3-0.

Sjöström then earned the clincher at fourth singles, 6-4, 6-1, over Ben Graham.

Colgate later picked up points at second and fifth singles before Mathieu Vinet capped the night for the Sharks at sixth singles with a 7-5, 0-6, 1-0 (13-11) win over Jerome Falcone.
