EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — A trio of LIU women's hockey players are returning from the 2023 Ice Hockey Women's World Championship in Shenzhen, China, with reasons to celebrate.
Anna Fairman and Team China went 5-0 in the tournament to finish in first place and earn a promotion from Division 1, Group A.
Meanwhile,
Emma Mörtl and
Lisa Schröfl earned bronze medals for a third-place finish after going 3-2 at the event.
Fairman, a senior defenseman with the Sharks, produced one assist and was +2 for the tournament with the host country.
Schröfl and Mörtl, also defenseman, were each +1 with Team Austria.
LIU opens its 2023-24 season with games against Northeastern on Sept. 29 and 30 at Northwell Health Ice Center.
