JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The LIU baseball team has its postseason fate in its hands this weekend.
After concluding the nonconference portion of its schedule with a 13-10 loss at Saint Peter's on Tuesday, the Sharks turn all of their attention to a three-game series against Wagner that opens Thursday at 3 p.m. on Staten Island.
LIU is tied with Sacred Heart for fourth place at 15-12, with Merrimack (13-14) and Maryland Eastern Shore (12-15) also in contention.
Six teams qualify for the NEC tourney, so one of those teams will be on the outside after next weekend.
Against Saint Peter's, left-hander
James Steindl received his first start since April 30, 2019.
Jack Power and
Carlton Harper each had late two-run homers in Tuesday's defeat.
