BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Back-to-back homers from
Christopher Hund and
Brian O'Boyle on consecutive pitches catapulted the LIU baseball team into a two-run lead in the seventh inning.
However, NJIT answered the following half-inning and defeated the Sharks, 8-6, on Saturday at the LIU Baseball Stadium.
LIU starter
Dominic Pieto limited the Highlanders to one run on two hits in six innings.
Hund and O'Boyle's solo homers had staked LIU to a 5-3 lead. NJIT then produced four runs in the eighth.
LIU looks to avoid the sweep when the teams meet in the nonconference series' finale on Sunday at 1 p.m.
