BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Sam Garcia homered in both games of a doubleheader and produced a combined five RBIs in a doubleheader sweep against Southern Indiana at the Spring Games last week.
Teammate
Lindsey Cowans went 3-0 with two saves and did not surrender an earned run in 26 2/3 innings this past week.
And on Tuesday, Garcia was recognized as NEC Player of the Week and Cowans was recognized as NEC Pitcher of the Week as a result.
Garcia, a redshirt senior catcher from West Covina, Calif., hit (7-for-19) with two homers and six RBIs as the Sharks produced a 5-1 record for the week.
Cowans, a sophomore right-hander from Camarillo, Calif., had a win or save in all five of the victories. She yielded only two unearned runs in 26 2/3 innings while striking out 30 batters.
Teammate
Camryn Lyman, a redshirt senior outfielder and fellow Californian, joined Garcia and Cowans as NEC Prime Performers for the week.
The Sharks (13-13 overall) next begin NEC play by hosting Fairleigh Dickinson for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
