Alexia Castro is 2-for-2 in NEC Rookie of the Week awards.
Castro earned the conference honor for a second straight week to begin her collegiate career on Tuesday, after hitting .313 (5-for-16) with two doubles, a homer and three RBIs in five games this past weekend in Georgia.
Castro, a freshman from Bakersfield, Calif., shared this week's honor with Sacred Heart freshman pitcher Sam Kowalski.
Castro also was named an NEC Prime Performer for the second straight week.
The Sharks again head south this upcoming weekend, for five games in Rock Hill, S.C. LIU will face Harvard, North Carolina Central (twice), host Winthrop and Fordham beginning Friday.
