SYOSSET, N.Y. — The LIU men's tennis team pulled out the doubles point, then got singles victories from
Philip Hilble and
Ales D'Anna. However, the Sharks fell to Davidson, 4-3, on Saturday at Sportime Syosset.
"It was a good showing from the team today," coach
Jan Griga said. "We came out playing solid doubles and got on the board early. We carried that momentum into singles, where went toe to toe with them on several courts, going up 3-2 after getting solid three-set wins at No. 1 and No. 4 singles.
"We had very close matches on No. 2 and No. 5 singles that sadly didn't go our way. But, overall, we are proud of the guys and are happy to see them playing with confidence and seriously pushing a team as good as Davidson."
The Sharks next face Queens on Friday at 1 p.m. in Flushing.
