BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The LIU men's water polo continues to be battle-tested as they took on No. 6 Princeton Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn.
The national title contenders were too much for LIU to handle as the Sharks fell 16-8, but there were a lot of positives to be taken out of the match.
The Tigers jumped out to an early 10-1 lead and went into the half up 11-2, but the Sharks woke up in the third and fourth periods. They outscored Princeton 6-5 in the second half and showed that as a new program they are not to be taken lightly.
Karl Lovett had his best game of the season, putting a season-high six goals in the back of the net. His season total now sits at 30.
Logan Morgan put together a nice day, scoring two more goals and bringing his season total to 11.
CWPA Defensive Player of the Week
Ethan Zirh added eight more saves to his stat line, two of which came on penalty shots. Zirh now has 175 saves on the year.
The Sharks return to the pool next Saturday at home when they welcome Gannon to the Steinberg Wellness Center at 10 a.m.
