COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Goaltender
Brandon Perrone made 34 saves before departing for an extra skater, but the LIU men's hockey team fell to host Colorado College, 4-2, on Friday night.
Bret Link scored the game-winner with 6 minutes, 27 seconds remaining in regulation. And the Tigers added an empty-net goal with 1:10 to go.
LIU twice had overcome one-goal deficits.
Josh Zary evened the score at 2 with 8:39 remaining in regulation. The goal, assisted by
Chris Pappas and
Cade Mason, came less than two minutes after the Tigers had taken the lead.
During the second period, Zary had assisted on
Austin Brimmer's goal that evened the score at 1.
Colorado College outshot the Sharks, 38-17.
Friday's matchup marked the first-ever meeting between the programs.
The teams meet again on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET at Ed Robson Arena.
