Jonathan Villacis Makes Dazzling PK Save in Dramatic Finish at SFU

LORETTO, Pa. — Goalkeeper Jonathan Villacis entered cold to make a critical save. But the LIU men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to host Saint Francis U on Thursday.

After the referee awarded a penalty kick in the 81st minute as well as a red card to starting goalkeeper Eoin Gawronski, Villacis entered and saved the ensuing penalty kick from Tom Schellbach to preserve a one-goal deficit.

LIU, playing down a man the remainder of the match, nonetheless had a header shot from Emil Jaaskelainen saved in the final minute and the Red Flash held on for the one-goal win.

André Puente had scored for the Sharks 45 seconds before halftime to even the score at 1.

LIU dropped to 2-1-2 in NEC play — three points behind FDU and Saint Francis U for first place.
