North Easton, Mass. — The LIU women's basketball team was put to the test on Saturday afternoon against conference foe, Stonehill.
The Sharks, who have battled hard on the road all season long, fell to the Skyhawks 56-49 in their first meeting of the season.
Graduate student Shyan Mwai  scored a team-high 17 points for the Sharks. Cristina Bermejo scored seven points and Mariah Elohim helped out with six of her own.
LIU dropped to 0-7 in conference play and have a chance to find the win column Jan. 26 against Sacred Heart.Â
The match up against the Pioneers is the start of a three game homestead for head coach Rene Haynes and the Sharks.
