LEWISBURG, Pa. — After claiming victory on the opening day of the Bucknell Invitational, the LIU women's volleyball team was tripped up on Day 2.
The Sharks fell to George Washington in five sets and host Bucknell in straight sets to close out the weekend's matches.
In the 25-22, 25-20, 25-16 loss to Bucknell,
Sophie Young had 18 assists,
Anastasia Scott had 20 digs and Barbora Hošková had 13 kills.
Earlier in the day, the Sharks fell to George Washington, 26-28, 25-14, 21-25, 25-20, 16-14.
LIU produced three straight points to pull even at 14 in the winner-take-all fifth set, but George Washington held on.
Scott had 23 digs,
Allie Merz and Young had 20 assists apiece, and
Karolina Nova had 13 kills against the Colonials.
The Sharks (2-4) won their opening match at the Bucknell Invitational on Friday, against NJIT, as coach
Ken Ko earned his 100th career win at the program's helm.
Scott was named to the all-tournament team.
LIU returns to action next weekend at the Rhode Island Challenge, when it faces Marist, Boston College and the host Rams.
