EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — The LIU men's ice hockey team opens its 2022-23 season on Saturday night at Northeastern. And ahead of that game, head coach
Brett Riley has named four on-ice leaders for the Sharks.
Jack Quinn will serve as captain, while
Anthony Vincent,
Adam Goodsir and
Jordan Di Cicco will serve as alternate captains.
"I'm honored," said Quinn, a 5-foot-10 junior forward from Lancaster, Mass. "I'm looking forward to the responsibilities of being a leader on our team. I am excited about the leadership group we have and what our team is going to accomplish in Year 3 of building this program."
The three alternate captains will assist Quinn with leadership duties on and off the ice.
Vincent, a forward from Darien, Conn., appeared in 101 games and tallied 16 goals and 32 assists spanning four seasons with Holy Cross before transferring to LIU this summer as a graduate student. He served as an alternate captain for three seasons with the Crusaders.
Goodsir, a forward from Okemos, Mich., joined the Sharks this season after spending the past four years playing with Michigan State. He appeared in 131 games with the Spartans and was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
Di Cicco, a defenseman from London, Ont., appeared in 29 games last season and enters his third season with the Sharks.
"It's an absolute honor to be named an alternate captain for this upcoming season," Di Cicco said. We have an amazing group his year, filled with a high level of character, and I am very thankful for the opportunity to be part of the leadership group."
Said Vincent: "I think we have a great leadership group that's going to help carry this team and help us be successful."
LIU opens its season with six straight road games before hosting Nebraska-Omaha at Northwell Health Ice Center on Oct. 28 and 29. Tickets for home games may be purchased
