BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Michael Coney drilled five field goals on Saturday against Bryant, including the go-ahead score with 56 seconds remaining.

And on Monday, Coney was recognized as the FedEx Ground FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week.

Coney also was honored as the Northeast Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week.

Coney, a 6-foot-1 redshirt sophomore from Wantagh, drilled field goals of 34, 19, 30, 41 and 28 yards against the Bulldogs.

The 28-yard attempt was his third of the fourth quarter and gave the Sharks a 29-28 lead in the final minute, although Bryant won on a field goal as time expired at the other end.

"The offense put me in great positions," Coney said. "The snaps, holds and blocking were great. The operation felt very smooth."

LIU begins NEC play on Saturday at Merrimack. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Duane Stadium.
