STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Jaylin Counts scored a goal in the 27th minute to pull the LIU women's soccer team within a goal.
However, the Sharks' two-match winning streak ultimately was snapped by host Stony Brook, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon.
The Sharks fell to 2-2 on the season. They had been coming off consecutive shutout victories against Delaware State and Saint Peter's.
Kayla DeTreux made her season debut in goal, handling the second half.
LIU returns to action when it hosts Vermont on Thursday at 4 p.m. at LIU Soccer Park.
