BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The LIU football team has received several year-end honors since earning its fourth straight victory to close the season on Saturday. The latest are particularly meaningful, blending classroom and on-field achievements.

Jayson Emery,
Owen Glascoe,
Sean Kelly,
Tedi Kushi,
Zach Rhodes and
Justin Weller were named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
Desta, a redshirt sophomore offensive lineman from Lancaster, Pa., boasts a 3.91 cumulative GPA as a computer science major.
Emery, a junior defensive end from Florence, N.J., has a 3.58 GPA as a finance major.
Glascoe, an NFL prospect and redshirt junior tight end from Massapequa Park on Long Island, has a 3.61 GPA as a health and physical education major.
Kelly, a junior linebacker from Brick, N.J., has a 3.89 GPA as a business finance major.
Kushi, also a business finance major, is a redshirt sophomore offensive tackle from Staten Island with a 3.53 GPA.
Rhodes, a redshirt sophomore wide receiver from St. Augustine, Fla., has a 3.71 GPA as a business major.
A graduate-transfer wide receiver, Weller produced a 3.61 GPA as an undergrad at Penn State. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, he is pursuing an MBA at LIU.
