EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Jeannie Wallner and Paula Bergström helped fuel the LIU women's ice hockey team's home-and-home sweep of Post this past weekend.

And on Tuesday, the Sharks duo was honored with conference weekly awards.

Wallner was selected NEWHA Player of the Week, while Bergström earned Defensive Player of the Week.

Goaltenders Tindra Holm and Annie Abramson, who each recorded a weekend victory against the Eagles, received NEWHA honorable mention in the goaltender and rookie categories, respectively.

Wallner, a sophomore forward from Kings Park, had two goals apiece in 5-1 and 3-1 victories.

Bergström, a junior defenseman from Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, was plus-three for a team defense that surrendered only two weekend goals. She tallied a goal and an assist in the two games.

Bergström earned the NEWHA defensive award for the second straight week.

The Sharks (5-6, 4-1 NEWHA) return to action Nov. 11 and 12 at Saint Michael's.
