WASHINGTON — Emil Jaaskelainen's NCAA-best goal-scoring streak continued. This time, it salvaged a point with Howard on Sunday.
Jaaskelainen scored the equalizer in the 81st minute and the LIU men's soccer team tied the host Bison, 2-2.
LIU extended its unbeaten streak to eight matches, although its seven-match winning streak was snapped.
Jaaskelainen has scored in all eight matches during that streak. He has the longest goal-scoring streak in Division I this season.
Andre Puente had opened the scoring in the 11th minute, but Howard produced goals in the 35th and 70th minutes to take a 2-1 lead — the latter goal coming on a penalty kick.
Jaaskleainen now has 11 goals this season. Sunday's equalizer came off an assist from
Matthias Heiland.
The Sharks (9-2-1, 3-0-1 NEC) return to action Thursday at Merrimack.
