BRONX, N.Y. — The LIU men's tennis team flexed its muscles in singles against a pair of NEC opponents at the Fordham Invitational this weekend.
The Sharks took all seven singles matches against Wagner and five singles matches against St. Francis Brooklyn on Day 1 of the two-day event.
Then, on Sunday, highlights included
Philip Hilble defeating Fordham's Dhillon Virdee-Oakley, 6-2, 6-4.
Hilble went 3-0 in singles at the Fordham Invitational.
"We had a very solid showing this weekend at Fordham," coach
Jan Griga said. "We spent the last two weeks thoroughly preparing and it showed in the results. On Day 1, we won 13 out of 17 singles matches, and won 15 of 21 overall, so really good stuff from the guys.
"We have started putting a lot of emphasis on understanding the importance of positivity and mental awareness in ourselves recently, and that has given us a goal to challenge ourselves with every day, which is exciting. I am looking forward to seeing the positive impact this will continue to have on our tennis through the end of the fall season."
The Sharks next compete at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md., Nov. 11-13.
