FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The LIU women's soccer team made big strides in 2022, doubling its win total from the previous season and returning to the NEC Tournament in
Lucy Gillett's first season at the helm.
Unfortunately, the season came to a close on Sunday afternoon, when the sixth-seeded Sharks fell to third-seeded Sacred Heart, 5-0, in the opening round at Park Avenue Field.
Sacred Heart scored goals in the 22nd and 35th minutes to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The Sharks finished with a 4-12-3 overall record.

Jaylin Counts led LIU with eight points (two goals, four assists).
