PRINCETON, N.J. — The LIU women's tennis team measured up well against top-tier competition during three days of competition at the Princeton Invitational this weekend.
The Sharks capped their solid showing by getting singles victories from
Saki Oyama,
Bianca Compuesto and
Jasmine Maduel against Princeton on Sunday.
Oyama and
Leo Boisseau also picked up singles wins against Rutgers' Amira Badawi and Arina Valitova, respectively, during the weekend.
The Sharks took two of three doubles matches as well as three singles against UConn, with Boisseau,
Elinor Storkaas and Compuesto picking up the singles victories and pairs Boisseau and Storkaas as well as
Phoebe Watton and Compuesto clinching the doubles point.
"It was another excellent weekend for us, packed with great tennis from start to finish," coach
Jan Griga said. "The level here was very high, and I'm really happy with the way we rose to the occasion.
"We capped the weekend with an impressive performance against Princeton, taking three of seven singles matches. There are lots of positives to bring to the practice courts this week to make the necessary adjustments ahead of the Fordham Invitational next weekend."
