Women's Ice Hockey

23 Women's Ice Hockey Players Earn NEWHA Academic Honors

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The New England Women's Hockey Alliance recognized 114 student-athletes on Tuesday with 2020-21 All-Academic Team honors. 23 members of the LIU team were recognized, the second-most in the league.
 
Additionally, 12 student-athletes maintained 4.0 grade-point averages to earn Student-Athlete of the Year distinction. LIU sophomore Kenzie Harmison was honored for her perfect GPA.
 
Harmison, the Most Outstanding Player of the 2019-20 NEWHA Championship, started 13 games for the Sharks in 2020-21, posting five wins. Winning the team's Most Valuable Player award, the Film major helped LIU to the Commissioner's Cup Championship title on Mar. 4, making 23 saves to defeat Sacred Heart.

To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have achieved at least a 3.0 grade-point average in both the first and second semester. The Student-Athlete of the Year award is conveyed to the student-athlete(s) who have maintained the highest grade-point average in the league.
