BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to three games Monday at LIU Soccer Field, shutting out Mount St. Mary's, 4-0. With the win, LIU now sits at 3-1-2 in Northeast Conference action.
LIU outshot the Mount, 16-3, and it showed in the score. The Sharks got on the board first just 15 minutes into the contest, when senior
Jonas Dovland scored off a pass from
Saidou Diallo. Just 20 minutes later, the senior made it a two goal lead, when he stole the ball in the midfield and beat two defenders and the Mount goalie on a breakaway to make it 2-0.
In the second half, LIU would score twice more. The first was a goal from freshman
Assane Ben Fall, his first of the season. And then nine minutes later, Fall would assist when freshman
Emil Jaaskelainen scored the fourth and final Sharks goal.
LIU goalie
Demetri Skoumbakis made two saves in net to earn the shutout win.
Up next, LIU travels to Brooklyn to take on league-leading St. Francis Brooklyn, on Monday, April 12 at 1 p.m.
