SHARKS WIN! Women’s Ice Hockey Rallies to Beat Franklin Pierce, 4-3

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The LIU women's ice hockey team rallied from a 3-0 deficit to come from behind and beat Franklin Pierce 4-3 at Northwell Ice Center Saturday afternoon. With the win, LIU moves to 10-0-0 in NEWHA play, and 10-7-0 overall.

  • The Ravens started scoring on a power play goal in the first period, and added another 90 seconds later to lead 2-0. The visitors scored 56 seconds into the second period, taking a 3-0 lead on the Sharks.
  • LIU started to battle back eight minutes later. LIU got on the board on a power play goal by Bri Eid, assisted by Megan Bouveur and Matilda af Bjur.
  • Eid's goal sparked a scoring spree. Four minutes later, Jeannie Wallner scored on a breakaway goal off a pass from Saige McKay, and four minutes after that, Carrigian Umpherville scored with help from af Bjur to tie the game up, 3-3.
  • The two teams entered the third period knotted up, 3-3.
  • Bouveur would score the go-ahead goal midway through the third period, with help from Walner and Ashley Morrow, to make it 4-3 LIU.
  • Alex Thomas and Alva Johnsson each had two blocked shots for the Sharks on defense.
  • Freshman goalie Tindra Holm had the win in net for LIU, making 28 saves.
  • Up next, LIU heads north to take on Merrimack, Saturday, December 11 at 7:30 p.m.
