BROOKVILLE, N.Y. The LIU men's soccer team improved to 7-2-2 on the season and 3-0 in Northeast Conference play after beating Bryant at home Sunday afternoon. The Sharks rallied from behind to beat the Bulldogs and extend the unbeaten streak to seven straight games.
After a scoreless first half, Bryant would score 10 minutes into the second half, taking the 1-0 lead. The Sharks upped the offensive pressure, but wouldn't get a shot to fall until the 68th minute. Sophomore
Emil Jaaskelainen scored on a beautiful series of passes in front of the net from
Jeremy Guardado and
Assane Ben Fall, to knot it up, 1-1.
With the pressure on, LIU would take the lead just over two minutes later. Jaaseklainen struck again, this time challenging Bryant's keeper on a 50/50 ball and winning, giving the home team a 2-1 lead.
The Sharks, who out-shot Bryant 11-4 in the second half, would hang on despite a late push from the Bulldogs, to take the 2-1 win at home.
