LYNCHBURG, Va. - The LIU men's hockey team downed Liberty in the second exhibition matchup between the two teams, 4-0. Junior goalie
Vincent Purpura had the shutout win in net for the Sharks.
LIU score most of the goals late in the game, after nearly two full scoreless periods.
Zack Bross got the Sharks on board late in the second period, when he scored with help from junior
Tanner Schachle. Bross would score again in the third period to make it 2-0, assisted by
Mitchell Meek and
Mat Harris.
A freshman duo would connect on the third goal, as
Aaron White found
Nolan Welsh, who'd score to make it 3-0. And the final goal of the night was for senior
Christian Rajic, who scored with help from both Welsh and Harris.
Purpura had 24 saves in the shutout victory.
The next game on the schedule for the Sharks is a road trip to take on Robert Morris, February 4 and 5.
