LYNCHBURG, Va. - The LIU men's hockey team faced the Liberty University ACHA club team in an exhibition game Friday night on the road, and the Flames would eek out a 2-1 win over the Sharks. 

Freshman Nolan Welsh would score LIU's lone goal in the first period. Senior Garrett Metcalf had 28 saves in net. The Flames scored twice in the second period to go ahead. LIU outshot the Flames in the contest, with Liberty's goalie making 50 saves to give his team the win. 

The two teams will face off in a second exhibition matchup Saturday, January 23 at 3:30 p.m.
