Svete's Career Day Leads Baseball to Home Opening Victory

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Jackson Svete struck out a career-high 12 batters as the Long Island University baseball team defeated the St. Peter's Peacocks 6-0 in the home opener on Thursday afternoon.

  • Svete's performance marked his second straight outing with 10 + strikeouts. He held the Peacocks to four hits across seven innings of work.
  • Cooper Shearon logged four RBI with a one-run double and a bases loaded triple.

How it Happened
The Sharks wasted no time getting runs on the board, striking in the first inning. Warneke singled then stole second. Andy Camilo beat out an infield single, moving Warneke to third base. Davyn Adamscheck reached on a fielder's choice, bringing Warneke home for the first run of the game. Shearon then doubled down the left field line, driving in Adamscheck.
 
Svete fanned two batters each in the second and third innings. Through the fourth to seventh innings, he allowed just one hit. The Sharks tacked on some insurance in the eighth inning. Warneke singled. Camilo and Adamscheck walked to load the bases. Shearon roped a triple over the right fielder's head, clearing the bases and making 5-0 LIU. Harper lined a ball up the middle, easily scoring Shearon from third. Griswold struck out the final batter of the afternoon to seal the victory.
