BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Long Island University men's soccer team will make the short trip to Hempstead, New York, on Tuesday, October 1 for a non-conference matchup with Hofstra University at 7 p.m. at the Hofstra Soccer Stadium.
 
Notes on the Sharks
LIU is 4-4-0 overall and 1-0-0 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play. The Sharks are coming off two-straight wins as they defeated Saint Francis University 3-2 in overtime on Friday, September 27 at the LIU Soccer Park in their NEC opener and Columbia University.
 
Freshman Papa Ndoye leads the Sharks with eight points and four goals. Senior Kyle Parish and sophomore Athanasios Coutroumpas each have six points with two goals and two assists while graduate student Stefan Faistenauer has five points with one goal and three assists. Junior duo Chris Capaldo and Camarri Johnson both have three points with one goal and one assist for LIU.
 
At goalkeeper, senior Matias Pesallaccia has appeared in eight matches and has a 4-4-0 record on the season. He has accumulated 31 saves, a 1.82 goals against average and a .689 save percentage.
 
Scouting Hofstra
Hofstra is 4-4-0 and 2-1-0 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play. Most recently, the Pride fell 3-1 to Marist College on Wednesday, September 25 in Poughkeepsie, New York.
 
Both Petter Soelberg and Frederik Rieper lead Hofstra with six points and three goals each. Adam Savill has five points with one goal and three assists while Matthew Vowinkel also has five points on two goals and one assist.  Storm Strongin, Hendrik Hebbeker and George O'Malley each have three points for the Pride.
 
Alex Ashton has appeared in eight matches at goalkeeper and has a 4-4 record on the season. He has tallied 22 saves along with a 1.66 goals against average and .629 save percentage.
