Ice Hockey Set for Two Game Series Against Post

BROOKVILLE, N.Y.- The Long Island University women's ice hockey team returns to action with a two-game weekend series against New England Women's Hockey Alliance member Post University. The first game against the Eagles is on Friday, November 15 at the Sports Center of Connecticut. The Sharks will close out the weekend against Post on Saturday, November 16 at the Northwell Health Ice Center.

NOTES ON THE SHARKS
The Sharks enter this weekend with a 2-8 record and are 2-2 in NEWHA play, most recently coming off a 1-1 week against the Sacred Heart Pioneers. On Friday, Abby Latorella scored her first two career goals within 17 seconds to kick off the third period comeback for the Sharks. Matilda af Bjur got the Sharks on the board on Friday, breaking through on a power play. Saige McKay net her first career goal, and the eventual game-winner. Reigning NEWHA Defensive Player of the Week, Mia McLeod earned her first collegiate victory between the pipes. She finished the first game with 33 saves, including six in the final four minutes.
On Saturday, Stella Scott scored her first career goal in the first eight seconds of the game. Megan Bouveur would be the second Shark to score within the opening three minutes. Paula Bergström scored to cap off a three-goal first period for the Sharks. af Bjur scored her second goal of the weekend, and third of the season. McLeod made 32 saves in net for the Sharks.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
The Post University Eagles come into the matchup with a 3-9 overall record and a 1-7 record in the NEWHA. The Eagles' one win in conference play come from a 3-2 win over Saint Michael's. Most recently, the Eagles are looking to bounce back from a 4-6 loss against Trine University. Sadie Storm led the offense with two goals and added an assist. Kendall Fitzgerald and Jenna Abeyta each scored a goal. Paige Dundas chipped in two assists. Kaitlyn Daly finished the game with 37 saves. Daly has 191 saves this season with a .872 save percentage.
 
UP NEXT
After a weekend off, the Sharks will return to action for a single, non-conference matchup against Sacred Heart on Friday, November 29. Puck drop at the Sports Center of Connecticut is slated for 2:00 p.m.
