BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Long Island University men's soccer team will resume Northeast Conference (NEC) play on Sunday, October 6 at 3 p.m. against Sacred Heart University at Park Avenue Field in Fairfield, Connecticut.
 
Notes on the Sharks
LIU is 4-5-0 overall and 1-0-0 in NEC play. The Sharks most recently suffered a 2-1 setback at Hofstra University on Tuesday, April 1 in Hempstead, New York.
 
Sophomore Athanasios Coutroumpas and freshman Papa Ndoye both have eight points to lead the Sharks. Coutroumpas has three goals and two assists while Ndoye has four goals. Senior Kyle Parish has six points with two goals and two assists while graduate student Stefan Faistenauer has five points with three assists and one goal. Junior duo Camarri Johnson and Chris Capaldo each have three points with one goal and one assist.
 
Senior Matias Pesallaccia has a 4-5-0 record at goalkeeper and has recorded 35 saves. He also has a .686 save percentage and a 1.84 goals against average.
 
Scouting Sacred Heart
The Pioneers are 1-8-0 on the season and 0-2-0 in NEC play. Most recently, Sacred Heart fell 2-0 to Bryant University on Sunday, September 29 in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
 
Sacred Heart is led in points by Segundo Navarro who has six along with a team-high three goals. Jean Gabriel Pierazzi has two points and one goal while Olaf Coforti and Riley Sullivan each have one point and one assist.
 
At goalkeeper, Robert Strain is 1-4 on the season and has 35 saves along with a 2.92 goals against average and .714 save percentage. Josh Inkel is 0-4 and has 27 saves, a 3.09 goals against average and a .675 save percentage.
