BROOKVILLE, N.Y.- The Long Island University women's ice hockey team opens up New England Women's Hockey Alliance play this weekend with a trip to South Burlington, Vt. to take on the Saint Michael's College Purple Knights.

NOTES ON THE SHARKS
The Sharks took on Yale last weekend in a two-game series. In the first game against the Bulldogs,
Molly Meyers and
Megan Bouveur both scored their first career goals.
Ava Bailey had 19 saves in net for the Sharks, while
Kenzie Harmison made a career-high 28 saves.
Paula Bergström chipped in her first career assist on Bouveur's goal. Bergström scored her first career goal in the second game against Yale.
Mia McLeod played all 60 minutes during the second game and she made a career-high 50 saves, while shutting out the Bulldogs for the entire third period. McLeod was named NEWHA Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, and was named to the weekly honor roll along with Bergstöm.
SCOUTING THE PURPLE KNIGHTS
The Saint Michael's Purple Knights come into this weekend with a 1-1 record after splitting a series with the Post University Eagles last weekend. In the Purple Knights' season opening win, Arianna Boscia and Riley Nichols each scored a goal. Vika Simons made 39 saves in the Purple Knights' season opener. Simons then made 33 saves during the second matchup against Post last weekend. She now has 72 saves on the season and a .947 save percentage. Nichols scored in the second straight game for the Purple Knights, while Jordan Monbouquette scored her first goal of the season in the second game against the Eagles last Saturday.

The Sharks will continue NEWHA play with a trip to Shelton, Conn. to take on the Sacred Heart Pioneers on Friday, November 8. Puck drop at the Sports Center of Connecticut will be at 4:00 p.m.
